Come Out & Play SF line-up announced

8 Oct

We’re excited to announce the line-up for Come Out & Play San Francisco, to take place as an exhibition and festival during November 17-December 8 at SOMArts Cultural Center. Our West Coast friends have some fantastic games on tap, including:

Ran Some, Ransom by Lynn Maharas and Erik Burke: A favorite from past Come Out & Play Festivals, this game relies on a tech-free form of “augmented reality,” in which players line up printed transparency sheets with images of urban features to explore skylines and street art.

WANTED! by The Cowgirl Way Society: Maggie Durrant, head cowgirl at the Cowgirl Way Society, is WANTED by the law! 1-10 players take on cowgirl roles in this 30-minute interactive Western drama. SMS prompts build character and intrigue while cowgirls try to help Maggie get out of town.

Shadowplay by Gigantic Mechanic: Cast yourself into the game with Shadowplay, a large-scale street game projected directly onto the walls of the city. Players jump, dash, stretch and contort their shadows in a bid to score points by eclipsing objects floating through the game.

Propinquity by Lynn Hughes, Bart Simon, and the Modern Nomads: a videogame imagined as shared experience, where the other player – rather than a screen, controller, or camera – is the focus of your attention.

The Living Room, a first-ever exhibition of new board games at the SOMArts gallery–check out The Cove, The Berlin Wall Game, and Toy Fight, all handmade by local designers!
