Biking Rules!

Biking Rules!

Do you know the rules of the road?

  • Date:14 Jul 2012
  • Location: Governors Island
  • Address: Governors Island, New York, NY
  • Time: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • “Biking Rules!” is a mash-up of Red Light, Green Light, and a NYC road obstacle course.

Contestants start on an official marked bike lane. They must go through a course on bike weaving through cones, avoiding opening cab doors, pumping up
their flat to 90 PSI, and ring a bicycle bell when completed. Whichever contestant rings the bicycle bell first is administrated a trivia question from
Biking Rules. If the contestant can answer the question correctly, they have become an honorary Bike Ambassador and will leave with a badge of honor.
All contestants leave with Biking Rules handbook, Bike Maps, and small give-a ways.

There will also be a place for children and their families to join in! We’ll have bicycle coloring pages and other fun stuff for kids. Designated children’s
times on the course as well!

    Designer: The Bike Ambassadors

The Bike Ambassadors are the outreach unit for the long standing bicycle, pedestrian, and public transit non- profit advocacy organization, Transportation Alternatives. Our goal is to reach as many current cyclists and potential bikers to communicate safe cycling practices, the rules of the road, and points of advocacy regarding better bike lane development and protection for bikers!
