Sound Play for the Adventurous

  • Date:14 Jul 2012
  • Location: Governors Island
  • Address: Governors Island, New York, NY
  • Time: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Play sports like you’ve never done before – using your ears instead of your eyes! We’ve taken our love for tech and games and created sporting equipment that allows you to hear and feel the game space rather than see it. Navigate though the field, other players, and around the equipment using FiiWA’s sound and vibrotactile feedback. Can you and your partner manage to create innovative ways to communicate in order to cross the field, pass the ball, and score more goals than the opposing team with FiiWA? How are your skills when it comes to solo play? Try out your hand/ear coordination with a game of FiiWA Tetherball.

Designer: Tracy Gromek & Marcus Pingel

Tracy and Marcus work designing, building and coding interactives, wearables, games, and software in the company they founded together, Electronic Bohemia. In 2008, their sporting equipment for the visually impaired, FiiWA, won first place at the Kölner Design Preis International.

They presented their most recent work, a strategic competitive-collaborative board game, at this year’s Games for Change conference in the G4LI Game Play Expo.
