  • Swordfight is a two player physical game played using Atari 2600 controllers and strap on harnesses. Each of the two players wear one around their waist. The goal of the game is to press your opponent’s button with your joystick before they press yours.

Players are not allowed to make use of their hands, either by holding their hands behind their backs, or by using black leather cuffs (stylish and comfortable).

Designer: Kurt Bieg & Ramsey Nasser

KURT BIEG: I am an IGF nominated game designer and founder of Simple Machine in New York City. I have released two games for iOS. Circadia (Feb 2012) is a sonic rhythm game that reached the Top 25 list on iPhone and iPad. Twirdie (June 2010) is a live data game using Twitter that was recently presented at GDC 2012′s Experimental Gameplay Workshop.

I graduated from Parsons with an MFA in Design and Technology in 2011 where I pioneered the live data game genre as the topic of my thesis.

RAMSEY NASSER: I am a software engineer, designer, educator, and Eyebeam fellow who loves to make interesting and useful things.

I’ve been making things my whole life and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. My work includes games, applications, hardware, programming languages, data visualizations, websites, and more. If it’s original, meaningful, and I get to make it with my own hands, I’ll be interested. I am a strong believer that open source is the best way to write software and share as much of my work as I can.

Behind my passion is a B.S. in Computer Science from the American University of Beirut, an M.F.A. in Design and Technology from Parsons The New School for Design and almost a decade of professional experience. At my side are the most talented sons of bitches this side of the Atlantic, who I am honored to call my friends and collaborators.
