Our friends over at Outdoor Foundation are running a fantastic challenge grant. They are looking for real-world games that inspire a new generation of kids to fall in love with outdoor play.

Game ON! Challenge Grants
The Outdoor Foundation, through its Outdoor Nation initiative, is partnering with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) as well as leaders in the conservation community and entertainment gaming industry to launch Game ON! Challenge Grants. This first-of-its-kind pilot program will invest in youth-inspired projects that leverage entertainment gaming technologies and principles to get a new generation outdoors, active and engaged in conservation challenges.

Individuals and teams — beginners and experts alike — are tasked to create a new app/mobile game or promote an existing game to inspire youth to get outdoors and active. Grants of $5,000 will be given to the top four projects that are judged to have greatest likelihood of successfully increasing outdoor participation among America’s youth. In addition to the financial award, winners will have the opportunity to attend the E3 Conference.

We are now accepting submissions for the 2013 Come Out & Play Festival.

Come Out & Play returns to lower Manhattan on July 12 and 13.  Apply now!

Like last year, this year’s festival will feature three events:

• After Dark – July 12 at South Street Seaport
• Field Day - July 13 on Governors Island
• Family Day - July 13 on Governors Island

Submission and Review Dates

• Submissions are due May 1, 2013.
• We will send out responses by May 26, 2013
